A-Treat Heroes campaign finalists

A-Treat Soda named six finalists for the A-Treat Heroes campaign. The individuals, recognized for their selflessness, and volunteers in the Greater Lehigh Valley area are Meals on Wheels of Lehigh County volunteer Betty Duffy, Kempton Fire Company Fire Chief Matthew Brett, Smiles by Sarah founder Barb Martucci, Catasauqua Police Department Officer Scott Rothrock, charitable musician and songwriter Scott Marshall and H.O.P.E. program founder Donna Jacobsen.

All finalists will receive a $500 donation to the 501(c)(3) organization of their choice. The official A-Treat Hero of 2018 will win a $10,000 donation to the 501(c)(3) charity of their choice, and will be featured on the brand’s cream soda label.

First Presbyterian pastor installed

The Rev. J.C. Austin was installed as pastor/head of staff of the First Presbyterian Church of Bethlehem on March 4. He earned a Master of Divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary and studied the theological dimensions of South Africa’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission at the University of Cape Town.

He has spoken, taught and served on Presbyterian Church (USA) national committees and task forces, including the General Assembly’s Special Committee on the Belhar Confession and its Middle East Policy Monitoring Group. He was an associate pastor at Madison Avenue Presbyterian Church and was a vice president at Auburn Seminary, both in New York City.

He is the founder of The Studio for Leadership Arts, a coaching and consulting firm to develop the organizational vision and capacities of faith leaders.
