LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Andrew Simpson Wight

Andrew “Andy” Simpson Wight, 69, of North Whitehall Township, died Feb. 18, 2018, at home with his puppy, Madison, by his side.

He and his loving wife, Patrice “Patti” (Wanish) Wight, celebrated their 31st anniversary last December at Disney World.

Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, he was a son of the late Charles John and Mary (Simpson) Wight.

After coming to the United States at age 4, he was raised in Brooklyn, N.Y., and graduated from Erasmus Hall High School in 1965.

He earned his computer science certification from NYU and his certification from Methodist Hospital of Radiologic Technology.

After working in medical imaging technology sales for many years, he reinvented his career at age 59 to become the PACS administrator at Penn State Health St. Joseph, Reading.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.

He was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, Allentown, where he served as an elder on consistory and in its choir.

He coached his children’s youth leagues in bowling, softball, baseball and soccer, enjoyed cooking, arts and crafts, and photography and was always up to date with the latest computers and technology.

His greatest loves were his wife, kids, grandkids, “fur babies” and his Gold Star Executive Costco membership.

If there are crockpots in Heaven, he probably has a pot roast cooking.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Eric Andrew Wight (Dana) of Bucks County; a daughter, Heather Wight (Ali) of Allentown; a stepdaughter, Jill Augusta Clipper (John) of South Whitehall Township; a brother, Charles Wight (Suzanne); a sister, Georgina Ramos (Henry); grandchildren Ethan, Abbie, Killian, Finn, Isla, Justin and Jamie; a mother-in-law, Shirley (Roth) Wanish; a sister-in-law, Grace Leayman (Joseph); nieces; and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brother, James Wight; stepmother, Mary (Laurich) Wight; and his pups Molly, Kayla, Maxi and Kirby.

Contributions may be made to the church or to the Center for Animal Health and Welfare.

Arrangements were made by Stephens Funeral Home Inc., Allentown.
