Richard Henry Kresge, 86, of Bethlehem, died Feb. 8, 2018. Born in Bethlehem, he was a son of the late Henry J. and Dorothy M. (Frank) Kresge. He was the husband of Lorraine H. (Wenzl) Kresge for 65 years.
He was a 1948 graduate of Liberty H.S. and a 1950 graduate of Bethlehem Business College.
He was in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and played in the 243rd Army Band.
He was a payroll clerk at Bethlehem Steel for 33 years before retiring.
He played the trumpet and was the leader of Dick Henry’s Band of Gold and Sweet-Soft and Swinging. He played in the Dave Neith Orchestra, The Royalaires, Liberty Alumni Band and the Hanover Band. He was a trumpet teacher.
He was a member of Christ Church U.C.C., Bethlehem.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Linda E. and her husband George Beris of Salisbury Township and Janis L. and her husband Thomas James of Bethlehem Township; a son, Steven R. Kresge of Bethlehem; two sisters, Lois Husowitz of Bethlehem and Barbara Bohning of Allentown; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and an expected ninth one .
