Eleanor Raposo, 79, of Bethlehem, died Feb. 23, 2018, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Fountain Hill. Born in Cumberland, Md., she was a daughter of the late Leonard and Isabel (Quisenbury) Murphy. She was the wife of Joseph Raposo for 57 years.
She was a 1960 graduate of the University of Maryland, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Music Education. She was a 1979 graduate of Rutgers University, where she was one of the first women to earn a master’s degree in Music Composition.
She was a Music History professor at Rider University.
She was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church, Emmaus.
She sang in various church choirs and taught hand bells.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by four sons, Steven and his wife Leni A. Teixeira of Raritan, NJ, David and his wife Carol of Tewksbury, N.J., Mark and his wife Wendy of Branchburg, N.J. and Douglas of Bethlehem; a sister, Sara Monkman of Reisertown, Md.; and seven grandchildren, Christopher, Zackary, Anthony, Dylan, Logan, Gillian and Matthew.
