Upper Macungie Twp board makes various appointments

Upper Macungie supervisors have accepted the planning module for the new Parkland elementary school, Hidden Meadows Phase 1C, Parkland Fields street-lights and the township manager’s salary via resolutions.

In other business, Duane Dellecker was appointed flood plain administrator and Hartco Environmental LLC was awarded the contract to install a flow monitoring system at a cost of $16,503.84.

The change in the name of Abigail Lane to Krocks Road will move forward with approximately a dozen properties affected.

The board authorized the advertisement of the name change, which will be up for adoption next month.

A 2010 Ford F350 pickup was sold to North Whitehall Township for $12,500 and the completion of four property appraisals along Route 100 will be completed.

The township recreation board will meet on the third Thursday of each month.

Katie Shade was elected chairman while Andrea Russell was selected as vice chairman.

Charles Depril was selected chairman of the community development with Paul McNemar as vice chairman.

Supervisor Sean Gill noted Uline has donated a substantial amount of supplies to the township fire companies.

Upper Macungie Police Chief Edgardo Colon was present to give the police report.

Total calls for service in January were 805. Traffic citations numbered 262.

The most reported crimes were 12 DUI offenses and 12 thefts.

The K-9 officers had four assignments in the township and one in another jurisdiction.

Total motor carrier inspections were 14 with 29 violations discovered and 13 citations issued.

Sgt. Cory Reader obtained certification as a standard field sobriety test instructor; Officer Phillip Shedaker finished his certification as a field training officer, while eight officers received recertification in CPR and AED training.

They also received training in Naloxone and first aid.

The planning commission had two plans to review.

Parkland Elementary School, preliminary/final land development plan received conditional approval while the Ambassador Drive Land development preliminary/final land development plan was tabled.

Seventy one permits were issued along with 70 licenses.

Seven single family detached dwellings were permitted along with six single family attached dwellings.

No appeals were made to the zoning hearing board in January and none are scheduled for February.

Fire inspections totaled 97.

Emergency responses were as follows: Station 8 responded to 40 calls. Station 25 answered 44 calls and Station 56-51.

No new members were recruited. Volunteers are still needed by the fire companies.

Special meetings dealing with the spotted lanternfly will be held at various locations.

They are as follows: March 7 at Weisenberg Fire Department; March 13 at Whitehall Township Municipal Building; March 14 at New Tripoli Fire Company; March 21 at Salisbury Township Municipal Building; March 28 and 29 at Lower Macungie Township Community Center and April 4 at Upper Macungie Township Building.

All meetings are from 7-9 p.m.

Timothy Steber told the board that there were still some outstanding issues involved with Parkland Fields and they should be addressed before final approval is given.

Stenroos said they will be addressed in the maintenance period.

Currently, phases 1-A, 1-B and 2 are in the maintenance period.

At the reorganization meeting on Jan. 2, the following appointments were made: James Brunell will be chairman of the board with Sean Gill as vice chairman.

Other appointments included: Ashley Godshall, secretary; Bruce Koller, township manager; Andrew Schantz, legal counsel for supervisors and planning commission; Keystone Consulting Engineers, township engineer for supervisors and planning commission; Kyle Kuester, zoning officer with Duane Dellicker as alternate zoning officer and building code administrator.

Sewage enforcement officer will be Eric Erb with Keystone Consulting Engineers.

Third party inspectors are Base Engineering, CodeMaster Inspection Services and Keycodes Inspection Agency.
