Ruth J. Beer, 92, formerly of Trachsville, died Feb. 19, 2018, in The Williamsport Home, Lycoming County. She was the wife of the late Charles R. Beer.

Born in Yonkers, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late William and Florence (Graff) James.

She was a 1943 graduate of Chas. E. Sorton High School, Yonkers, N.Y., and a 1946 graduate of St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing, New York City.

She was a registered nurse at the Kresge Nursing Home, Gilbert, for 25 years until she retired.

She was a member of Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Trachsville, where she taught Sunday school and volunteered for church events and fundraisers. She was a member of the Women of the ELCA.

She is survived by four daughters, Colleen and her husband Dennis Keefe of Northern Cambria, Catherine Foster of Blue Ridge, Ga., Margaret Schneider of Williamsport and MaryLou Montes of Northampton; a daughter-in-law, Carol Beer of Northampton; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by son, Carl Beer; and a granddaughter, Alexandra Seitzinger.
