Northampton: ‘Old Northampton’ photo program set for March 10

Northampton Area Historical Society will hold a special program on “Old Northampton” 10 a.m. March 10 at borough hall, 1401 Laubach Ave.

Larry Oberly will share photos of the early business community.

Reminder: Grace United Church of Christ, 902 Lincoln Ave., will hold Lenten crab cake dinners 5-7 p.m. March 2, 9 and 16. The meal also includes a baked potato, coleslaw, roll and butter, dessert and a beverage.

Chicken finger dinners will also be available for adults and children. Takeouts are available.

Tickets can be purchased at the door.

Northampton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4714, 1204 Main St., will host polka nights, featuring button box music, 7-10:30 p.m. March 2 and 16.

Karaoke with Crazy K is planned for 10 p.m.-1 a.m. March 9 and 23.

DJ PK will hold a karaoke night 10 p.m.-1 a.m. March 30.

St. John’s Friendly Fifties will meet 1 p.m. March 12 in the church’s social hall, 1343 Newport Ave. Singer Glenn Kakowski will entertain.

If Northampton schools have an early dismissal, late start or a cancellation, there will be no meeting.

Northampton AARP Chapter 3915 will meet March 14 at Northampton Banquet & Event Center, 1601 Laubach Ave.

Doors open 11 a.m. Entertainment will be provided. Those planning to attend are asked to bring a baked good.

In case of bad weather and schools are closed, the meeting will be canceled.

Hampton Lanes, 326 Main St., will host a bowling benefit for the Dog TAGS Program of the Lehigh Valley 12:30-2:30 p.m. March 31.

The Dog TAGS organization works with veterans to get the service dogs they need to help with injuries caused by serving our country.

A bake sale, basket raffle and a T-shirt and wristband sale will also be a part of the day.

Northampton Area Konkrete Kids Educational Foundation will hold an oldies dance April 7 at Northampton Banquet & Event Center, 1601 Laubach Ave.

Doors open 5:45 p.m. A hot buffet will be served 6-7:30 p.m., followed by oldies doo wop music by Desire 7:30-10:30 p.m.

A basket raffle and 50/50 drawing will also be held.

Deadline to order tickets is March 31. They will not be sold at the door.

Local residents are invited to bring sensitive documents for shredding to Northampton Banquet & Event Center, 1601 Laubach Ave., 10 a.m.-noon April 14.
