James A. Coombe
James A. Coombe, 82, of Northampton and formerly of Whitehall, died Feb. 19, 2018. He was the husband of Sylvia C. (Cappellini) Coombe for 60 years.
Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Harry and Daisy (Frankenfield) Coombe.
He attended Lafayette College and Kutztown University.
He was in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean conflict.
He was a partner of ABE Car Care Center, Allentown, for more than 26 years until he retired. Earlier in life, he worked for Sears Roebuck and Company.
He was a member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Roman Catholic Church, where he was a lector, eucharistic minister, member of the finance committee and was a mainstay at the monthly breakfasts and church festivals for many years.
He was on the board of Coplay Whitehall Sewer Authority, Whitehall-Coplay School Authority and Willow Green Condominium Association. He was a member of Jordan Lodge 673 F&AM, Fullerton Fire Company No. 1 and Fullerton American Legion Post 367.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Tina and her husband Todd Joncas of New Hampshire and Tammy and her husband Buddy Kellar of Allentown; four grandchildren, Jenna and her husband Adam Anthony, Brittany Jones, Jordan Joncas and Michael Kellar; two great-grandchildren, Gabriella and Landon; a sister-in-law, Jean Coombe; nieces; nephews; and extended family.
He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Coombe.
