Brenda E. (Saylor) Semmel, 65, of Whitehall, died Feb. 24, 2018, at Gracedale Nursing Home, Nazareth. She was the wife of David ‘’Chuck” C. Semmel for 45 years.

Born in Northampton, she was a daughter of the late Ray E. and Lillian (Marsh) Saylor.

She was a 1970 graduate of Northampton High School.

She was an assistant librarian at Northampton Area Public Library (NAPL) for 21 years until she retired in 2016. She was instrumental in the Friends of the NAPL basket social.

She attended St. John’s United Church of Christ, Howertown.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Michele L. and her husband Andrew Reitz of Fleetwood; a son, Keith D. and Cheri Mohry of Laurys Station; three grandchildren, Madeline, Abigail and Gavin; a brother, Larry R. and his wife Joan of Northampton; and two nephews.

There will be a calling hour 10-11 a.m., followed by services starting 11 a.m., both March 1 at the funeral home, 2119 Washington Ave., Northampton.
