In continuation of Hokendauqua Park and Playground Association’s Bob Warke-Dale Horn Scholarship program, HPPA will again be awarding two $1,000 scholarships.

To be eligible, you must be a Class of 2018 high school-eligible graduate, be continuing your education in the fall of 2018, have participated in HPPA’s baseball, softball or basketball youth programs, completed the form and returned it to HPPA by Feb. 28. Reminder: Until April 11, AARP Tax-Aide will continue its local, state and federal tax preparation help at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3355 MacArthur Road, for residents 50 and older. To schedule your appointment, you must come in to the church 9 a.m.-noon on a Monday or Wednesday.

Keep your calendar open March 3 and 4 for Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church’s basket social. On Saturday, the basket social will take place 9 a.m.-3 p.m.; on Sunday, the event will occur 9 a.m.-1 p.m., with a 1:30 p.m. drawing. You do not need to be present to win.

The kitchen will be open both days. There will also be a bake sale. In case of bad weather, March 10 and 11 are the scheduled dates for the event.

Local students in second through ninth grades have been rehearsing for Camp Rhythmo’s spring production of “Peter Pan Jr.”
