EASTERN SALISBURY COLUMN
It’s officially the middle of the school year, with the end of the second marking period for the middle and high school coming to an end. This year is flying by. With that in mind, please remember that due to the two snow days we have used, the following days will now be snow makeup days with school in session: Feb. 16 and March 29. Both days will be early dismissals with Salisbury Middle School and Salisbury High School dismissing 12:15 p.m. and Harry S Truman Elementary School and Western Salisbury Elementary School dismissing 1 p.m. Any future snow days will be added to the end of the school calendar.
The Center for Humanistic Change, Inc., will present a program on heroin and opioid prevention at Salisbury High School, 500 E. Montgomery St., Allentown, 6:30 to 8 p.m. Jan. 24.
Any parent, sibling, student, friend, neighbor or concerned citizen or professional who wants to know more about this epidemic and what to do to help someone struggling with opioids should attend.
The presentation will provide current information on what to do to help someone in need.
HOPE, heroin and opioid prevention education, was developed in response to the growing concern around heroin and opioid abuse in the Lehigh Valley and builds awareness through the stories of local families coping with the effects of addiction.
After attending the program, participants will be able to identify what is heroin, what are opioids, signs and symptoms of opiate use, effects of use on health, relationships and life, obtain local resources and learn how to get help.
