Rev. John M. McLoughlin, 86, of Northampton, died Jan. 15, 2018. He was the husband of Jane E. (Dunheimer) McLoughlin for 57 years.
Born in Kingston, N.Y., he was a son of the late Merton and Edith (Clingen) McLoughlin.
He was a 1950 Syracuse Central High School graduate. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University and a divinity degree from Hartford Seminary. He was ordained in 1960 and held his ministerial standing with Penn Northeast Conference of the United Church of Christ.
He was the senior pastor for St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, Seemsville, for 25 years until he retired in 1996. He was an interim pastor for Church of the Manger, Bethlehem; St. James UCC, Allentown; St. Luke’s UCC Belfast, Nazareth; and Jerusalem UCC Trachsville, Palmerton. He was a chaplain for many years at both Green Meadows Nursing Home and the former Leader Nursing Home, both of Bethlehem.
He was a former member of both the F.& A.M. Manoquesy Lodge 413 and the Lions Club, both in Bath. He was an umpire of various men’s baseball leagues.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Thomas J. and his wife Shannon and Andrew T., all of Northampton; two brothers, Robert McLoughlin of San Diego, Calif., and David and his wife Barbara McLoughlin of Syracuse, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a son, Paul McLoughlin; and a brother, Donald.
