Dean M. Donaher of Hanover Township, Northampton County, has announced his candidacy for state representative in the 138th Legislative District.

“I am pleased, humbled and honored to announce my candidacy for State Representative. As a long-time community leader in our region, I will fight for each and every family, child and senior citizen in Harrisburg. The status quo simply isn’t working anymore,” Donaher said.

Like many in our community, Donaher has grown tired of inaction in Harrisburg and watching long-time legislators idly sitting by while not providing responsible solutions to the problems Pennsylvanians face.

Donaher retired from the Bethlehem Area School District in 2015 after 30 years of service. During his time with the district he taught mathematics, served as an Assistant High School Principal at both Liberty and Freedom High Schools, was Principal of Liberty High School and completed his career as the Director of Student Services.

“I have seen up close and personal how working families and children struggle by no fault of their own. Making sure I am doing all I can for my community that has been so good to me continues to be my priority,” Donaher said.

He currently serves as a member of the Bethlehem Area School District Board of School Directors, being elected to a four-year, at-large, term in November 2015. He is a Trustee of Northampton Community College and President of the Board of the Five Star Heart Project, a non-profit organization that is dedicated to teaching the fundamentals of hard work, discipline, and sacrifice to middle school students through sports. He is the chairperson of the Holy Infancy Roman Catholic Church Pastoral Council in Bethlehem. Additionally, Donaher is a member of Bethlehem’s “South Side Vision 20/20” steering committee and co-chair of the Outdoors and Wellness sub-committee.
