Silver hair usually indicates

That you are growing old.

Along with all that silver hair,

Comes stories to be told.

We’ve lived a long time to earn that hair;

We’ve been through many hard times;

We always managed to work things through,

Without committing crimes.

We watched our brothers go off to war,

And prayed until they came home.

When they did return, they were welcomed with love,

And they no longer felt so alone.

We respected our country,

Our anthem, and flag;

We treated our military with respect.

We honored our policemen and women

Who protected us while we slept.

We never thought of doing things

That would hurt one another;

We were taught love and manners,

By our Father, and our Mother.

If they were still alive today,

I wonder what they would say;

They wouldn’t believe that we were still

Living in the U.S.A.

Our brown hair has turned to silver.

That makes us pretty old;

But I would never, ever trade my life

If you offered me millions in gold.
