Anna T. Wechsler

Anna T. Wechsler, 101, of Coplay, died Dec. 25, 2017, at St. Luke’s Hospice, Bethlehem. She was the wife of the late Frank G. Wechsler for 40 years.

Born in Coplay, she was a daughter of the late John and Julia (Gilly) Tameler and the stepdaughter of the late Herman and Anna (Sipics) Fruhwirth.

She worked in the garment industry in several area factories.

She was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Coplay, and belonged to the Altar & Rosary Society since 1940. She sang on the choir for many years, and was a pierogi maker.

She was a member of the Coplay Saengerbund and was part of the children and adult chorus. She was also a member of the Coplay Senior Citizens. She was a member of the War Mothers of World War II, Coplay, and volunteered to visit disabled servicemen at several veterans’ clinics in Eastern Pennsylvania.

She is survived by two sons, John and his wife Kathryn of Whitehall and William and his wife Nancy of Titusville, Fla.; two daughters, Anna Marie Schanta and Catherine and her husband Emil Schanta, all of Whitehall; two daughters-in-law, Rose Mary Wechsler of Whitehall and Kim Wechsler of Coplay; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.

She was predeceased by two sons, Francis and Robert; a son-in-law, Franz Schanta; a brother, John; and three sisters, Julia Lakovits, Teresa Wiessner and infant Emma.
