H. Ralph Koch Jr., 76, of Bethlehem, died Dec. 26, 2017, in his home. Born in Bethlehem, he was a son of the late Howard R. Sr. and Dorothy M. (Abbott) Koch. He was the husband of Theresa “Terri” (Heller) Koch for 55 years.
He was a 1960 graduate of Liberty High School.
He was a motor inspector for 31 years for the Bethlehem Steel until he retired. He later worked for Bethlehem Forge.
He was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church, Bethlehem, was on the board of trustees for many years, was a member of the building committee and ran the soundboard.
He was a member of the United Steel Workers Union and was a trustee and part of the grievance and safety committees. He was a founding member of the Saucon Valley Conservancy and was the second president for several years.
In addition to his wife Terri, he is survived by a daughter, Melissa Jo and her husband Jeffrey Shafer of Fountain Hill; a son, Michael R. and his wife Christa of Bethlehem; three siblings, Dorothy M. and her husband David Mulcahy of Coplay, Sarah Anne and her husband Wayne Williams of Bethlehem and Robert T. Koch of Fogelsville; five grandchildren, Rachel Pacheco, Sarah Shafer, Elizabeth Shafer, Haley Koch and Alexander Koch; six great-grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.
