Mark “Bommer” J. Bonshak, 53, of Whitehall, died Dec. 23, 2017, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Allentown. He was the husband of Catherine “Peach” R. (Gober) Bonshak for 29 years.
Born in Northampton, he was a son of Joseph and Bettyjane (Dougherty) Bonshak of Whitehall.
He a 1982 graduate of Whitehall High School, where he was a star athlete, and a 1986 graduate of Bloomsburg University, where he lettered in baseball all four years.
He was a sales executive in area development for FedEx Services, Lehigh Valley district.
He was an inductee of the Whitehall-Coplay School District Athletic Hall of Fame. He was a coach for Whitehall High School, Whitehall Baseball Club, Fullerton AA, Hokey and Schadt Avenue youth leagues and the Legion Baseball League.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Erinn and Cara; three sons, Ryuta, Matthew and Ryan; two brothers, Chad and his wife Shawna and Doug and his wife Amy; Peach’s mother, Mary (Montagner) Gober; and members of the Bonshak and Gober families.
He was predeceased by his father-in-law, Frank S. Gober.
There will be a 9:30 a.m. visitation Dec. 28, followed by a Mass of Christian burial 11 a.m., at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Roman Catholic Church, 618 Fullerton Ave.
