LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

WESTERN SALISBURY COLUMN

Who is ready for Christmas? As usual, I am not.

As I write this, I have not written one card, wrapped one present or baked one cookie. But, hey, why should this year be any different than the rest. Have no fear, somehow it will all get done. Believe it or not, two years ago I was actually ready so early that our family went to the movies on Christmas Eve to see the new Star Wars movie. Miracles do happen.

Do you remember when Salisbury Middle School was asking for donations for their new Makerspace room? Well, they have been busy in there and are selling some of the items they have created. The middle school website has pictures and prices of things they are selling, which includes fleece blankets, string art and scarves. Check it out – maybe you will find a last minute Christmas gift.

Salisbury Township schools will have an early dismissal Dec. 22. Salisbury High School and SMS students will be dismissed 12:15 p.m. while Harry S Truman and Western Salisbury will let the children free 1 p.m. All schools will be closed Dec. 25 through Jan. 1, 2018 for winter break.

Are you on Facebook? If so, consider following Salisbury Township Police Department. They post all sorts of things to keep the community informed including lost pets and pictures of people they are looking for. Just last week they posted a warning about two people posing as township employees checking water meters but were really robbing residents. It’s a great way to know what is going on in your neighborhood.

Just a quick reminder there will not be garbage collection on Christmas Day or New Year’s Day. Garbage will be collected on your next regularly scheduled day.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and the happiest of New Years.
