Helen Karluk

Helen Karluk, 97, of Emmaus, formerly of Moosic, died peacefully Nov. 12, 2017, at Belle Haven Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center, Quakertown. She was the wife of the late Stanley F. Karluk who died in 2009. Born in Dunmore, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Katchur Battle.

She was educated in Dunmore schools and prior to her retirement, she was employed as a silk mill weaver, a YMCA receptionist and a medical office receptionist.

She was a member of St. Paul of the Cross Parish, Scranton.

She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed gardening and being surrounded by family.

She is survived by sons, Richard (Barbara), of Emmaus; Alexander (Rose), of Swanzey, N.H.; Robert (Rhonda), of Scranton; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters, Mary Schroder and Ann Bitsko; brothers, Jack, Charles and George.

Arrangements were made by Deserae Gondella Malone, F.D., Nicholas Chomko Funeral Home, South Scranton.
