WESTERN SALISBURY COLUMN SHS Key Club to host holiday party for kids Dec. 16
The Salisbury High School Key Club will host its annual children’s holiday party 1 to 3 p.m. Dec. 16 at the entrance to the old gym.
All students at Harry S Truman and Western Salisbury elementary schools are invited. A flyer is available on the high school website with a RSVP form. Please return the form to your school office by Dec. 8 so an accurate count of those attending can be made.
The Key Club will be accepting donations for three causes the afternoon of the party. First, for local shelters key club members will accept non-perishable foods, personal care products, paper products, new socks and new white t-shirts. Second, for our troops, donations of old cell phones will be accepted. Last, monetary donations to help cover the cost of the kids’ party will be accepted. Thank you in advance for any help you can give to these causes. For questions, contact Kate Hutchinson at khutchinson@salisburysd.org.
Dec. 7 is the date of Salisbury Middle School’s winter concert. I always loved this event which includes performances by the chorus, the concert band and the jazz band. Enjoy!
WSE will host its winter concert 9:30 a.m. Dec. 11. This concert includes the fourth and fifth grade classes singing, the chorus and the band and is always entertaining.
Dec. 11 also is an early dismissal day for SMS and SHS students. Both schools dismiss 10:45 a.m. for a teacher training. Elementary schools will dismiss at normal times.
The WSE PTA will host the annual Holiday Shoppe for students Dec. 14 and 15. Classrooms will visit during the day for students to shop and bring home a treasure they picked out for family and friends.
The Salisbury Township School District board will have a busy night Dec. 6 at the administration building. The following meetings will occur: reorganization meeting beginning 7 p.m. followed by an operations meeting, curriculum meeting and the regular board meeting (moved from Dec. 13).
The congregation of Jerusalem Western Salisbury Church will host its Christmas-themed community breakfast 8 to 11 a.m. Dec. 9. Along with the regular menu, special items include sweet potato kale frittata, cranberry orange sweet bread and gingerbread pancakes. A donation is suggested. All proceeds benefit the Angel Tree Ministry.
