Thanksgiving has come and gone and it is now officially the holiday season. Yes, I’m still one of those who won’t begin anything Christmas-y until after Thanksgiving. Welcome to the fun, yet chaotic holiday season!
Harry S Truman Elementary School continues to hold its annual food drive to benefit the local food bank. Non-perishable foods can be donated at the school until Dec. 18. Send in those goods if you are able.
Salisbury High School will hold its annual winter concert 7 p.m. Nov. 30; doors open to the public 6:45 p.m. The concert will feature performances from “Descant Get Enough,” “Give me Fortissimore,” the concert chorus and the concert band.
Dec. 4 starts the annual Keystone testing at SHS.
The next HST PTO meeting will be held 7 p.m. Dec. 4 at the school.
There will be a school board reorganization meeting 7 p.m. Dec. 6 in the administration building. Following that meeting, there will be a curriculum and technology meeting and an operations committee meeting.
Salisbury Middle School will hold its annual winter concert 7 p.m. Dec. 7.
HST will have the next T-shirt day Dec. 7.
Dec. 11 marks the mid-marking period of the second quarter for SMS and SHS.
SMS and SHS will have an early dismissal 10:45 a.m. Dec. 7.
How’s that shopping going? Have gifts but no time to wrap them? The Salisbury middle and varsity cheerleaders will wrap your gifts for you. Drop off your gifts and wrapping paper between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Dec. 9 or 16 at the SHS old gym lobby. There is no charge; however, donations are greatly appreciated. There will be a school board meeting in the administration building 7:30 p.m. Dec. 13.
The SHS Literary Club will hold a book fair at Barnes & Noble in the Promenade Shops 6 p.m. Dec. 15.
The Franko Farm Park Yard Waste drop-off site will be open 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 9 and 12. Please note Dec. 12 will be the last day the drop-off site is open for the year. The site will re-open in the spring.
Looking ahead, Eastern Salisbury will hold the annual Santa Run Dec. 16. Santa and his helpers will drive through the eastern Salisbury neighborhoods to greet children of all ages. Make sure to say hello.
