Raymond H. Nester
Raymond H. Nester, 88, of Allentown, died peacefully Nov. 18, 2017. He was the husband of the late Ethel R. (Bauman) Nester, who recently passed away. They were married for 66 years this past August. He was one of 15 children born to the late Elmer and Mabel Nester.
He honorably served his country in the Army during the Korean War and being honorably discharged, was a proud member of both the American Legion and VFW.
For the majority of his career, he was a purchasing agent with Superior Combustion Industries in Emmaus.
He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Emmaus.
He was active in the Lehigh Valley Purchasing Association, Boy Scouts of America Troop 70, St. John’s Lutheran Church Council, The Brothers of the Brush, the Alton Park Men’s Bowling League, and both the Allentown and Pennsylvania State bowling associations. He received a 50 year service star from the Minsi Trails Council of the BSA for his work as assistant scoutmaster and treasurer for Troop 70. While never threatening to become a professional bowler during his career, he was very active with the local and state bowling associations rising to office of president in both associations. He was elected to the Pennsylvania State Bowling Hall of Fame.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, and watching Penn State football.
He is survived by sons, Richard and his wife, Pamela and Robert and his wife, Lynn; grandchildren, Haley L. and her husband Bryan McKay, Ryan, Casey and her husband Paul Bazzano; great-grandchildren, Luke McKay, Briella and Gianna Bazzano; brothers and sisters, Mae Wentz-Nicholas and her husband, Ken; Annabelle Buss; Kermit and his wife, Jean.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Nov. 22 at the Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, 225 Elm St., Emmaus. A viewing will be held 9 to 10:30 a.m. Nov. 22 in the funeral home.
