Allen D. Fink

Allen D. Fink, 104, formerly of Macungie, died Nov. 16, 2017, in St. Luke’s Hospice House. He was the husband of the late Gladys A. (Lichtenwalner) Fink. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the Henry A. and Edna A.M. (Ritter) Fink.

He honorably served his country in the Army during World War II.

He was a mail carrier for the Macungie Post Office for 14 years and later the postmaster for six years, retiring in 1978.

He was a member of Solomon’s U.C.C., Macungie, where he served as past president of the church council, elder, Sunday School teacher, choir director and was the sexton of the church cemetery for many years.

He was a member of Macungie Borough Council and served as president in 1957 and 1958, served as Macungie Borough secretary and was involved in the planning commission and zoning board.

He was a founding member and past president of the Macungie Ambulance Corps., member and past president of Lower Lehigh Lions Club, past master and secretary of the Macungie Grange.

He was a member of the Fink Family Band, playing the violin and accordion from 1937 to 1943.

He wrote the 100-year history of the Macungie Grange, history of Solomon’s U.C.C. and the history of the Macungie Woman’s Club.

He is survived by a daughter, Patricia A., and her husband Ronald DiStefano, of Easton; son, Dale A. and his wife Theta, of Simpsonville, S.C.; grandchildren, Steven, Gretchen Renninger Vakiener, William Renninger and Kamaryn Fink Jennings; eight great-grandchildren.
