St. John’s Lutheran Church and St. Peter Roman Catholic Church will join Nov. 19 for the 51st annual Coplay Ecumenical Thanksgiving service. The 7 p.m. event will be held at St. John’s, 18 S. Third St. The program alternates between the churches.
This marks the first time since its inception in 1966 that Trinity United Church of Christ is not part of the service, as the church closed in August.
The combined choirs from the two churches will sing special songs for the service. Coplay Garden Club is providing the flower arrangements.
A special offering will be taken for the benefit of Coplay Recreation & Welfare Association’s food bank.

The borough hall office and the public works department will be closed Nov. 23 and Nov. 24. The police department will continue to keep the borough safe.

The annual community tree lighting and Christmas caroling program sponsored by Coplay Recreation & Welfare Association is Nov. 30 at the borough hall complex on South Fourth Street. The tree will be lighted, and Santa will make his first appearance via a Coplay Fire Department fire truck.
Lori Kulp Woodward and James Hummel will provide the entertainment.

Santa returns to the borough’s memorial plaza for a photo opportunity Dec. 16. Samuel Owens Restaurant will serve a free breakfast for the girls and boys who come to have their pictures taken with St. Nick.
