Jean Lorraine (Buss) Shoemaker, 92, died Oct. 26, 2017, in Allentown, She was the wife of the late Alvin Albert Shoemaker.

Born in Schoenersville, she was a daughter of the late Herman and Jennie (Saylor) Buss.

She was an Allentown Hospital School of Nursing graduate.

She was a cadet in the U.S. Army Nursing Corps during World War II.

She was a registered nurse at Allentown State Hospital until she retired after 10 years.

She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Catasauqua.

She was a secretary for the parent-teacher association in the Bethlehem Area School District.

She is survived by a son, Alvin “Chuck” III; three daughters, Jayne Beth, Patti and her husband Thomas Abbott and Kim and her husband Gene Pierce; two sisters, Marion Ackley and Sandra Wescoe; grandchildren, Josh, Peter and Michelle, Jon, Rebekah, Emily and Alex and Kathryn; great-grandchildren, Maddison, Peter II and Malachi; nieces; and nephews.

She was predeceased by three brothers, Dale, Robert and Larry.
