Pet Valu, a chain of food and care stores with high-end nutritional options opened recently in the Giant shopping center just outside Hellertown on Leithsville Road. Manager Kathy Cannon, who’s grew up on a farm in Bucks County, said she’s been with the company for 12 years and appreciates how supportive the company is of her vision. But there are other rewards. “Animal people are always such good customers,” she said. Aside from the wide array of specialty foods, beds, leashes, toys and other accoutrements pet owners look for, customers can bring their furry friends in to use one of three custom-made pet baths.
Manager Kathy Cannon describes some of the health supplement options for resident Bob Hero's cats. “You have to build relationships here,” she said. “This is a place where somebody has to come back every week. [Eventually] you walk down the street and people wave to you.”
