Egypt field hockey program keeps busy
The Egypt field hockey program continues to grow each year. The program is thrilled to have 52 players this year, which includes a K-1, second grade, third-fourth grades, and two fifth-sixth grade teams. The program participates in many tournaments in the fall.
Events included “Field Hockey Night” at the IronPigs, Moravian College Clinic, Miracle League of Lehigh Valley, Moravian College “Youth on the Field” game, Whitehall “Youth Field Hockey Day,” Whitehall Township parade, Northern Lehigh “Under the Lights” night, 11 vs. 11 game at Emmaus High School turf, “Pink Out” benefit play day, Angel 34 Fundraiser, and the following tournaments and play days: Schuylkill Valley, Egypt and SPYA.
The Egypt Play Day took place at Egypt Memorial Park on Sunday, Oct. 1. It was a beautiful day for field hockey and for the community to come out to support a great event. The event included teams from several organizations: Egypt, SPYA, Lower Mac, Boyertown and Montgomery County. The day included all levels of field hockey from kindergarten to sixth grade. There were 23 teams overall participating. It was a beautiful, fun filled day at the park. Many thanks to the Egypt parents, coaches, and board members who all volunteered their time to make this day a success. The program wants to thank the following vendors for their support as well: Boyd’s Bows, Lipsense, & Girl Power. The basket raffle donated by the parents and vendors was a huge success.
Field hockey director and head coach, Michele Laubach, will be coaching an indoor field hockey team that will play on Sundays at Exclusively Field Hockey in Kutztown. This team is for experienced players in fifth and sixth grade. Laubach will also run a winter K-3 skills clinic at Hitter’s Edge in Whitehall, starting in January.
