Ronald E. Smacchi, 78, of Northampton, died Oct. 14, 2017, at his residence. He was the husband of Charlene A. (Schmidt) Smacchi for 24 years.

Born in Pittston, he was the son of the late Sante and Silia (Giusepponi) Smacchi.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in social psychology from Kings College, Scranton.

He worked for Alliance Insurance Company, Bethlehem, and was later a litigation manager for 33 years for Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance Company until he retired in 1998.

He was a member of Pittston Volunteer Fire Company.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Danielle M. and her husband Michael Bulzoni of Duryea; a son, David S. and his wife Nancy of Shavertown; and three grandchildren, Giovianna, Macelia and Dominic.

Arrangements were made by Miller Funeral Home Inc., Lehighton.
