Ellen I. Cole
Ellen I. (Ruch) Cole, 90, of Allentown, died Oct. 7, 2017, after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease, at Lehigh Valley Hospice. She was the wife of the late Donald M. Cole.
Born in Northampton, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Lizzie (Frederick) Ruch.
She was a 1945 graduate of Northampton High School. She graduated from Allentown Hospital School of Nursing in 1949.
She was a registered nurse for Sacred Heart Family Practice, Allentown, until she retired in 2000. Previously, she worked for Allentown General Hospital, Allentown, and for Warren Hospital, New Jersey.
She was a member of Nativity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Allentown.
She was a member of the Allentown Hospital Alumnae Association and the Lehigh Valley Parkinson’s Support Group.
She is survived by three daughters, Lynn and her husband Theodore Lopsonzski of Orefield, Tippi and her husband Thomas Williams of Bethlehem and Carol Zambelli of Kings Park, N.Y.; a son, Donald M. and his wife Kimberly of Orefield; six grandchildren, Kelli and her husband Senator Jake Corman, Tom and his wife Julie, Casey and his wife Kristen, Michael and his fiancée Jessica, Cocca and KaeDee and her husband of Dr. Thomas Nowakowski; 11 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Helen Odenwelder, Margaret Fogel and Jeanette Smith; nieces; and nephews.
She was predeceased by a sister, Mabel Hower; two brothers, William and Franklin; and a grandson, Donald Zachary Cole.
