Julia Evancho Marcincin, Calvary Baptist Church member
Julia Evancho Marcincin, 99, of Bethlehem, died Oct. 9, 2017. She was the wife of the late Frank P. Marcincin Sr. Born in Bethlehem, she was a daughter of the late Nicholas and Julia (Pastelak) Evancho.
She was a plug tamper for the former Hellertown Manufacturing Company for 27 years until she retired in 1980.
She was a former member of saints Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, Bethlehem; and a parishioner of Notre Dame Catholic Church, Bethlehem.
She was a former vice president of the Ladies Auxiliary, Calvary Council 528, Knights of Columbus; and a monitor of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fourth Degree, Knights of Columbus, Lehigh Valley Assembly 931. She was a past secretary and was on the advisory committee of the Bethlehem senior citizens council of Buchanan Street; and a past secretary of Operation H.E.A.D. and of the senior citizens Golden Age club of Immaculate Conception Church, Allentown. She was a member of Lehigh Southside Boosters, the R.S.V.P. Catholic Social Agency, the local U.A.W. Retired Worker’s Council 1238, the Greater Lehigh Valley Slovak Association Inc., Midway Manor senior citizens, the ladies auxiliary of St. John the Baptist Church, Allentown; the Notre Dame Catholic Church sodality and senior citizens; and the Roman Catholic third Order of St. Dominic (the Lay Dominicans).
She was an office volunteer at Immaculate Conception BVM Church, Allentown; and an emergency desk volunteer at Muhlenberg Hospital.
She is survived by a son, Francis P. Jr. of Florida; a daughter, Julianne and her husband John Darrow of Fredericksburg, Va.; three granddaughters; and six great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a brother, John Evancho; and three sisters, Mary Kokosky, Anna Hitcho and Helen Kmetz.
