EASTERN SALISBURY COLUMN
The fall weather is finally here and the schools are busy with numerous activities.
Salisbury Middle School is in full swing with Spirit Week, which runs through Oct. 20. There will be a pep rally Oct. 19 beginning 1:40 p.m. Special days include Throwback Day Wednesday, Blue and White Day Thursday and Pajama Day/Believe Day Friday.
Oct. 20 will be early dismissals for all schools in the township. SMS and SHS will dismiss 10:45 a.m. while Western Salisbury Elementary School and Harry S Truman Elementary School will dismiss 1 p.m. If there are any changes to dismissal procedures for your student, contact their school to make that known.
For those who participated in the cookie dough fundraiser, SMS will deliver cookie dough Oct. 25. If possible, the order will be sent home with students.
The next HST T-shirt day will be Oct. 26. Don’t forget to wear your leadership shirts!
Oct. 27 will be the annual Halloween celebrations in the elementary schools. The HST Halloween parade will begin 2:30 p.m. Visitors are asked to park in the school lot or on Gaskill Avenue so the children can parade around the school.
Oct. 30 kicks off the HST book fair. Evening hours for shopping will be 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31.
Oct. 30 is also the fifth grade invitation to lunch at HST. Please note this year you must list the name of the person coming to the lunch. It is recommended guests purchase the school lunch to get the full lunch experience with your student. Don’t forget it’s a new school lunch program. This is your chance to check it out!
There will be a curriculum and technology committee meeting 7 p.m. Oct. 30 at Lehigh Carbon Community College.
Looking forward, the SMS twirlers will host a designer purse and Longaberger basket bingo Nov. 12, starting 1 p.m. Tickets can be purchased from a twirler or by contacting salisburytwirlingboosters@gmail.com.
