Northampton Community College
Conference set for Oct. 19
Talking Peace, the eighth annual Peace and Justice Conference, will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Oct. 19 in the Lipkin Theatre, Kopecek Hall, main campus. The event will focus on 50 years of peace and justice activism in the United States.
Events and displays will encourage empathy across cultures and appreciation of the roots of today’s activism from 50 years ago to coincide with NCC’s 50th anniversary.

FInancial Aid night
NCC’s free financial aid night will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 24 in the College Center, Room 220, main campus.
Prospective students, parents and the public are invited. Attendees will learn how to apply for federal, state and institutional aid using the free application for Federal Student Aid. Staff will explain application procedures, eligibility requirements and priority deadlines.

Marz named Director of Culinary Arts
Chef Francine Marz has been named the new director of the Culinary Arts program in the Business and Technology Department. She specializes in culinary arts, leadership and innovation and in the baking and pastry arts.
The certified executive chef was the culinary director at The Art Institute of Phoenix where she coached the Junior ACF Hot Foods Competition Team and took students overseas to Shanghai and Austria to compete. Most recently, she was the culinary director for The Culinary Arts Institute of Montgomery County Community College. She was recently named the Chef of the Year by the Delaware Valley/Philadelphia Chapter of the American Culinary Federation for 2017.
She earned an MBA from Argosy University and has degrees in culinary arts, food service management and baking and pastry from Johnson and Wales University, Charleston, S.C. She has represented the United States three times for a culinary showcase in China.
Penn State Lehigh Valley
Transfer Thursdays program
Students interested in transferring to Penn State from another college or university for the spring, summer or fall 2018 semesters, are invited to attend a PSLV Transfer Thursday program at 2809 Saucon Valley Road, Center Valley.
Students will learn about the transfer admissions process, tour the campus and have the opportunity to complete their Penn State application with the help of an admissions counselor.
Students who attend this program will have their application fee waived if they have not already paid. For those applying for the spring 2018 semester, application must be submitted by Dec. 1.
