BAPL System switches Oct. 12

The Bethlehem Area Public Library will have switched over to a new computer system when the library opens at 10 a.m. on Oct. 12.

From October 9 through 11: new library cards will not be needed but current cards must be presented to check out items as barcode checkout is not in effect on those days ; new library cards for non-card holders will not be issued; there will not be any computer access.

Items due back from October 9 to 12 may be returned or renewed without an overdue fine on October 13. Card holders’ PIN number, used to complete online renewals, login to library databases and sign-in to library computers, will automatically be entered as the last four digits of the phone number on file. The PIN may be changed on or after the 12 to a number of one’s choosing. Also on or after this date, library patrons may request that notification of a reserve item arrival be text messaged to them.

The reading list feature from the current system will not transfer to the new program. Readers should make a back-up of a list as the library will not have access to it. For more information, visit www.bapl.org/bapl-news/.
