State fire commissioner visits South Whitehall fire station

Pennsylvania State Fire Commissioner Tim Solobay, recently visited South Whitehall firefighters at Greenawalds Fire Department.

Solobay shared his insights on the status of legislative priorities important to firefighters throughout the commonwealth.

An active volunteer firefighter, Solobay related well to his target audience. He also has the advantage of serving in both the state Senate and Legislature making it somewhat easier to navigate the intricacies of the legislative process.

Among the priorities are a rewrite of Pennsylvania Title 35, Health and Safety; Consumer Fireworks, loosening of restrictions on consumer fireworks and a repeal of Act 1, 2011 Fire Sprinkler Bill.

This would require homebuilders to install residential fire sprinklers in new construction.

Also attending were state Reps. Ryan Mackenzie, R-134th; Mike Schlossberg, D-132nd; Christina “Tor” Morgan, president of South Whitehall Board of Commissioners; and David Bond, South Whitehall commissioner.
