Bernard C. Schwindenhammer, 79, of Allentown, died peacefully Sept. 18, 2017, at Lehigh Valley Hospice after a brief illness. He was the husband of Bonita (Schadt) “Schwindy” Schwindenhammer. They observed their 50th wedding anniversary in January. Born in Catasauqua, he was a son of the late Francis and Hermina (Nicklas) Schwindenhammer.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Allentown and grew up attending St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Catasauqua.
After 35 years, he retired from General Electric and then worked for Lehigh County Chore Service.
He was an Army veteran and a 1956 graduate of Central Catholic High School.
He enjoyed sitting in his man cave watching all his favorite Philly sports teams. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Thomas J. and his wife Kathleen, of Northampton and Timothy D. and his wife Maria, of Macungie; grandchildren Shane and Drew. He was predeceased by sisters, Frances Mai, Dorothy Arthur and Marcella Motsko.
