Richard D. Roth, 91, of Allentown, formerly of Center Valley and Hellertown, died Sept. 5, 2017, at Phoebe-Allentown. He was the husband of the late Catherine M. (Sourwine), who died in 2004. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Edwin C. and Violet B. (Diehl).

He was a veteran who served in World War II as a member of the U.S. Naval Submarine Service.

He was a salesman for P.W. Sales, Center Valley.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 469, Coopersburg.

He was a member of the Coopersburg and Upper Saucon Fire Companies.

He enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow and attending their sport and school activities. The Phillies were his team.

He is survived by a son, Thomas A.; daughter-in-law, Jennie Schaffer-Roth, wife of the late Robert S. Roth; grandchildren, Whitney and Andrew; sister, Dolores Reiss. He was predeceased by a son, Robert S. in 2005.
