John T. Royer, 71, of Emmaus, died Sept. 10, 2017, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest. He was the husband of Mary L. (Brown) Royer. They were married for 49 years on June 1, 2017. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Charles and Amelia (Schriner) Royer.

He graduated from Dieruff High School and Lafayette College.

He was an engineer and draftsman at the Bethlehem Steel Company, Ingersoll-Rand and Air Products. Later he was a teacher at Lincoln Technical Institute and taught math to the engineering students at Lafayette College.

He is survived by his wife; son, Samuel P. and his wife Maria; daughters, Amy L., wife of Guy Hagenbuch, and Lucy Patterson; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren and four stepgreat-grandchildren; brothers, Charles and his wife Grace and James and his wife Judy.
