4-H members participate in horse round-up show

Twelve Lehigh County 4-H members showed their horses in the county Round Up show July 8 at the Berks County 4-H Center.

Members competed in a variety of classes including showmanship, equitation, pleasure, over fences, driving, western, trail and gaming.

All 4-H members qualified to advance to the regional horse show in at least one of their classes.

The regional show took place Aug. 26 and 27 at the Montgomery County 4-H Center.

Kaytlin Dietrich of Kempton placed first in English Grooming and Showmanship, Low Equitation over Fences, Low Working Hunter Ponies, Hunter Hack Ponies, Hunt Seat Equitation on the Flat, and in Hunter under Saddle Ponies.

Nina Harf of Breinigsville placed first in Western Grooming and Showmanship, Pole Bending Ponies, and Raised Box Keyhole Ponies.

Kerigrace Hertzog of Allentown placed fourth in English Grooming and Showmanship, first in Beginner English Equitation, second in Beginner English Pleasure, and first in Beginner Trail.

Makenzie Hunsicker of Slatington placed third in English Grooming and Showmanship, Miniature Horse Jumping, first in Miniature Horse Driving, second in Pleasure Horse Driving, and first in Miniature Horse In-Hand Trail.

Lindsey Ilgenfritz of Orefield placed first in Western Grooming and Showmanship, second in Miniature Horse Jumping, first in Novice Reining and Open Trail Horses, third in Miniature Horse In-Hand trail and first in Pleasure Horse Driving.

Alexia Mankos of Slatington placed second in English Grooming and Showmanship, Beginner English Equitation, first in Beginner English Pleasure and Miniature Horse Driving, fourth in Miniature Horse Jumping, and first in Miniature Horse In-Hand Trail.

Emily Mittl of Kempton placed first in English Grooming and Showmanship, second in Hunter Hack Horses, first in Miniature Horse Jumping, second in Miniature Horse Driving and Miniature Horse In-Hand Trail, and first in Classic Hunter under Saddle Horses.

Liana Panik of Emmaus placed third in Western Grooming and Showmanship, Pole Bending Horses, Barrel Race Horses, and second in Raised Box Keyhole Horses.

Trinity Packard of Slatington placed first in English Grooming and Showmanship, Low Working Hunter Horses, Hunter Hack Horses, Hunt Seat Equitation on the Flat, Open Trail Horses, and Breed Type Hunter Under Saddle Horses.

Hana Toth of New Tripoli placed fourth in Western Grooming and Showmanship, second in Working Western Horse or Pony, first in Pole Bending Horses, second in Barrel Race Horses, and first in Raised Box Keyhole Horses.

Jordan Wanamaker of Emmaus placed second in Western Grooming and Showmanship, first in Barrel Race Horses 14-18, and third in Raised Box Keyhole Horses.

Sophia Vargas of Catasauqua placed first in Western Grooming and Showmanship, Pole Bending Horses, Barrel Race Horses, and Raised Box Keyhole Horses.

Youth who participate in 4-H horse programs develop life skills that include leadership, responsibility, sportsmanship, teamwork, community service, a positive attitude, and a sense of self-worth.
