Elwood J. Arey, 91, of Coplay, died Sept. 8, 2017, at Lehigh Valley Hospice, Allentown. He was the husband of the late Suzanne F. (Smith) Arey.

Born in Hokendauqua, he was a son of the late George and Sallie (Frederick) Arey.

He was a World War II veteran and was with the U.S. Marine Corps in Japan.

He retired from Bethlehem Steel Company where for many years he was a machinist and had other jobs.

He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Northampton.

He is survived by three sons, Edward J., David J. and Daniel J.; four daughters, Linda and her husband George Hohl, Darlene Schlegel, Kathleen Arey and Kristine and her husband Kenneth Moyer; three brothers, Robert, Calvin and Raymond; two sisters, June Stetler and Sallie Fink; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.

He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Katrina; a great-grandson, Shane; three brothers; and three sisters.
