Donald H. Steckel, 84, of New York, N.Y., died Sept. 9, 2017, at his residence in Manhattan.

Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Homer L. and Lena (Schleicher) Steckel.

He was in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany.

He was a photographer’s assistant for many years.

He is survived by a brother, Barry and his wife Faye of Whitehall; a sister, Virginia Valentine of Pittsburgh; nieces; nephews; and cousins.
