Northampton: Railroad station to open doors to visitors Sunday

The Siegfried Railroad Station, home of the Northampton Area Historical Society, will be open 1-4 p.m. Sept. 17. The station, located on 21st Street, is a museum housing artifacts of the Northampton area. This year, the borough’s first ward is being highlighted.

The historical society’s fall garage sale is planned for 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Sept. 30.

Donations for the sale are accepted and can be dropped off at the station 6-8 p.m. Sept. 27, 28 and 29 or 1-3 p.m. Sept. 29. Volunteers are also needed at these times to help set up for the sale.

Northampton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4714 hosts polkas and button box music 7:30-10:30 p.m. every Friday night at the Post home, Main Street and Laubach Avenue. Doors open 6:30 p.m.

An amateur night will be held 8-11 p.m. Sept. 23.

DJ Flip Side will entertain with oldies music 7:30-10:30 p.m. Sept. 30.

Oktoberfest is planned for 7:30-10:30 p.m. Oct. 6.

Karaoke with Crazy K is set for 8-11 p.m. Oct. 14.

The social hall is accepting new members. Membership is open to everyone; previous military service is not required.

Northampton Area Food Bank is sponsoring a penny party Sept. 24 at Hope Lutheran Church, 4131 Lehigh Drive, Cherryville. Doors open 1:30 p.m., and the games begin 2 p.m.

The event also includes refreshments, a raffle and a bake sale.

All proceeds go to purchasing food to serve the needy in the area.

Northampton Area Public Library is currently accepting donations for its autumn basket social, set for 6 p.m. Oct. 13. New or collectible items can be dropped off at the library.

Assumption of the Virgin Mary Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 1301 Newport Ave., is holding a halupki sale. Orders can be picked up at the church 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Nov. 11

The Cenacle to Divine Mercy at Queenship of Mary Church is sponsoring a trip Dec. 8 to Sight & Sound for “The Miracle of Christmas.”

The bus will leave the St. Joe’s parking lot 10 a.m.

The cost of the trip includes transportation, driver’s tip and the show.

The group will have lunch at Shady Maple, but that is not included in the trip cost.
