Bath: Christ UCC collecting items for victims

The congregation of Christ Church United Church of Christ, 109 S. Chestnut St., is collecting cleanup supplies for the flood-stricken area of Houston, Texas, due to Hurricane Harvey. There are many items on the list, and your help with whatever you can give is greatly appreciated.

The effort is being coordinated by Lorie Hutchison. To contact her, call the church office at 610-837-0345.

On Sept. 16, the Governor Wolf Historical Society museum, 6600 Jacksonville Road, will be open to the public from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., with tours of the society’s campus offered.

On Sept. 16, the Bath museum, located in the Bath Borough building, Penn and Washington streets, will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Emmanuel’s Lutheran Church, 3175 Valley View Drive, will return to the autumn schedule Sept. 17 with services starting 8 a.m., 9:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.

Sunday school will also begin 9:30 a.m.

The next meeting for youth wishing to attend the 2018 Youth Gathering in Houston, Texas, will be 6:30 p.m. Sept. 17 at Emmanuel’s. The annual Youth Gathering will take place June 27-July 1, 2018. All students currently in eighth through 12th grades are eligible to attend.

A final commitment to attend the event needs to be made at this meeting. Bring your completed paperwork with you.

During the month of September, Emmanuel’s will help Bath Food Bank by collecting canned chicken or tuna. The food bank is no longer accepting tomato soup, Jell-O or pudding.

It’s harvest time at Bath Farmers Market! The season is changing, and cool-weather crops are coming to the market from Twin Maples and Covered Bridge Farms.

You will be able to find a variety of freshly picked, locally grown apples, healthy greens like kale and cabbage, and winter squashes such as acorn, butternut and spaghetti.

Stop by the market 3-7 p.m. Fridays.
