There will be a free public talk, “Engraved: The Meanings Behind 19th Century Tombstone Symbols”, presented by Tammy E. Schane at 7 p.m. Sept.13 at Christ Lutheran Church of Lower Saucon, 2190 Easton Road, Hellertown. The event is sponsored by the Lower Saucon Township Historical Society.

The speaker, a public historian and photographer, wrote the book “Engraved: The Meanings Behind 19th-Century Tombstone Symbols”.
