Suburban North YMCA is sponsoring Debbie’s Dash, the Debbie Linton Memorial 5K, Oct. 21.

Linton was a 1984 graduate of Catasauqua High School, and her many accomplishments in track included league, district and state championships. As a tribute to her, the 5K will begin and end at Alumni Field in Catasauqua.

The goal of this event is to remember and capture the energy of Debbie and others who fought a brave battle against cancer. In addition to the breast cancer run, there will be a scenic walk and a kids fun run (free to children ages 3 to 10).

Medals will be awarded to the top three in each age category. The overall male and female winner will receive a gift card. Preregistration is open up to Oct. 1 at a discounted price.

Immediately following the awards ceremony, the Bash After Dash will be held in conjunction with the 5K. Join the fun at the Willowbrook pavilion for food, music and good times.

All proceeds from this event will enable the Y to donate a percentage to the American Cancer Society, offer cancer support groups at the Y and provide area children in need with sponsorships to the Y, especially to the youth track program.

To register, contact the YMCA at 610-264-5221.
