Joan L. Hammer, 81, of Coplay, died Aug. 16, 2017, at her daughter’s home in New Tripoli. She was the wife of the late Edward J. Hammer Jr. Born in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Naomi (Mengel) Obereker.

She was a graduate of Emmaus High School and worked for many years as a cashier and shop steward for the former Lane Co. in Coplay.

She loved Elvis Presley and his music and, on the 40th anniversary of his death, left this earth to dance with The King.

She is survived by daughters, Debra L. Krause and Roxanne and her husband Michael Davis; grandchildren, Steven, Dana, Ethan Christie and Jodee; seven great-grandchildren.
