LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

FALCON INSIDER

With the end of summer fast approaching, students are finishing their last bit of summer homework and savoring the final few days of summer.

Since students leave the end of the school year knowing their schedules for the following year and receive the official schedule two weeks before school starts, students are only waiting for one thing – their laptops.

This year, all high school and middle school students will receive new Apple Macbook Airs, that will not only be lighter to carry throughout the school year, but like the old laptops, will allow students to work collaboratively and be able to have all of their textbooks in one location. Due to the delayed shipping of new shell cases, students have yet to receive their laptops; however, they will be distributed Aug. 30 during homeroom.

Athletes have been spending their summer training for their upcoming season.

The cross country team has been running on a daily basis to improve their times.

The girls soccer team has also been practicing this summer, as well as holding a pancake fundraiser at Applebee’s.

The cheerleading squad began practices and won third place in cheer Grand Champion, third place in sideline cheer and first place in Extreme Routine at a recent competition.

Tennis, golf, field hockey, boys soccer and football teams have also begun training.

Students reporting for orientation began Aug. 28. This allowed all ninth grade students and new students to find their way to classes and learn about the activities and sports Salisbury has to offer. All other students returned to school Aug. 29.

Although students returned to school the week before Labor Day, they will still have a long Labor Day break, with Sept. 1 and 4 off to enjoy the few final days of summer.
