Emory J. Long, 87, of Emmaus, died Aug. 21, 2017, in The Lutheran Home at Topton. He was the husband of Eleanor L. (Heussman) Long, with whom he shared over 60 years of marriage. Born in Alburtis, he was the son of the late Howard W. Long and Isabella (Reese) Long.

He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Emmaus.

He was a 1947 graduate of Emmaus High School and a 1949 graduate of Allentown Business College.

He was employed in the Linderman Library at Lehigh University.

He enjoyed walking and he walked over 75 percent of the Appalachian Trail. He loved animals.

He is survived by his wife; daughter, Kristina Ann and her husband Robin R. Schuster, of Emmaus; grandchildren, Jessica and her husband Scott Kiernan, of Maryland, Justin, of Denver, Colo., and Sarah and Jared Schuster, of Emmaus; sister, Miriam Ferlino. He was predeceased by sons, Terry Bruce and Daryl Shawn; siblings, Lloyd, Beatrice, Rhea, Howard, Warren and Isabella.
