South Whitehall police welcome three new officers

South Whitehall’s police department has welcomed three new police officers.

Joseph Starosta, 25; Andrew D. Cikanovich, 27; and Matthew Carney, 31; were sworn in recently before District Judge Jake Hammond, South Whitehall.

Starosta, a graduate of Panther Valley High School, Lansford, Carbon County, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in criminal justice from Bloomsburg University.

He received Act 120 certification from the Allentown Police Academy.

Cikanovich, a graduate of Plymouth Whitemarsh High School, Plymouth Meeting, is studying at Neumann University, Aston, Delaware County, for a Bachelor’s degree in public safety administration.

He received Act 120 certification from Montgomery County Community College.

Carney, a graduate of Monsignor Bonner High School, Drexel Hill, received a Bachelor of Arts degree in criminal justice administration from Alvernia University, Reading, Berks County.

He received Act 120 certification from the Reading Police Academy.

Carney served five and a half years active military and is in the Reserves.
