Lewis Michael Stubits

Lewis “Skubie” Michael Stubits, 93, died Aug. 17, 2017, at Fellowship Manor, Whitehall. He was the husband of Mathilde Cecila (Weinhofer) Stubits for 69 years.

Born in Northampton, he was a son of the late Alois and Anna (Keg- lovits) Stubits.

He was a graduate of New York School of Photography.

He was in the U.S. Army Air Corps, European Theater, during World War II. Based in Rackheath, England, he was in bombardment group 467 and flew 30 B24 bomber missions.

He was a butcher for Kornfeind’s Meat Market for many years and drove a door-to-door marketing truck. He was a real estate sales worker for Patt, White (Ken Snyder Realty), Whitehall, until he retired at age 80. He was a freelance photographer.

He was a member of Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, Catasauqua, and was in the Holy Name Society.

He was a lifetime member of Catholic War Veterans.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Donald Stubits of Federal Way, Wash.; two daughters, Sylvia McBrinn and her husband Robert Reigrod of Chester, N.J., and Elizabeth and her husband Howard Shlom of Ardsley, N.Y.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, William Stubits of Chalfont; a sister-in-law, Susanna Stubits of Red Hill; nieces; and nephews.

He was predeceased by two brothers, John and Alexander; a sister, Anna; a sister-in-law, Helen and her husband Bill; and a brother-in-law, Joseph and his wife Anna.

There will be a calling hour 6-8 p.m. Aug. 25 at the funeral home, 326 E. 21 St., Northampton, and 8:45-9:45 a.m. Aug. 26 at the church, 122 Union St., Catasauqua. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 a.m. Aug. 26 at the church.
