Horos heads contract reviews

Lenore Horos, former South Whitehall director of finance, has taken the helm at a newly created department, “Risk Management and Contract Administration.”

At a recent commissioners’ meeting, Horos stated she looks forward to creating the department from the ground up.

“I think it’s needed and I won’t let you down,” Horos said.

She plans to take a look at all insurance policies to make certain township buildings and their contents have proper coverage.

Volunteer fire company policies will also be evaluated.

Horos said she will scrutinize all contracts and be familiar with all of the specifications.

Brook Neve, who was Horos’ assistant, has become the new director of finance.

In other business, Authority Manager Peter Pineda reported the township is doing hydrant flushing.

“We flush the system to clear the line of contaminants. It’s a requirement,” Pineda said.

He noted although commissioners voted to dissolve the authority, the process takes several months.

Until all is turned over to the commissioners, the board of authority still meets once a month.

During the public comment period, Allen Koszi, 4490 Farm Drive, reported a problem with flooding issues on his property.

His neighbor, Steve Tobin, said after the Ridgeview Drive and Walbert Avenue intersection was redone, rainwater problems started for him.

Engineer Ralph Russek explained the water originates north of Walbert Avenue and travels down a swale to Parkland Drive.

Koszi noted the public works department mowed vegetation at the swale but the debris from it is impeding the flow.

“We’ll be happy to take a look at this,” Russek said.
